The very first litter I ever raised, sired by our Ch. Brookshire Irish Ladd on the
Tare ("Ladd") and co-bred with Linda Holpuch ("Wisteria") produced Bindi,
Wisteria's De-Licious. Bindi was bred to Rhys, giving me the opportunity for my
first litter that carried the Ruaraigh kennel name. Tobi is one of the original
"Rhys' Pieces", the name we gave to Rhys' first litter, which naturally called for a
"candy" theme. Tobi was the first-born and the largest of the six tricolor pups...
2 girls, 4 boys...so she acquired the longest name.
As Tobi's show career began, I was always aware of the enormity of another
"first" in my life: a first home-bred champion. Valentine's Day of 2009 will
always be just that much sweeter in memory as Tobi became a Champion that
day in Indianapolis with a major and on to a Group 4! On that eventful
weekend, three days in a row she was Best of Breed from the classes and won
a Group 3 and two Group 4 placements...wow! Tobi finished with 3 majors and
4 Group placements.
A litter brother, Ruaraigh's First Night ("Kirby"), a beautiful black-headed tri, was
shown a short while and has 4 points, but his wonderful owners decided that
life on the show circuit for Kirby was too lonely at home without him, so he lives
a life of leisure and is certainly not "pointless"!
Tobi has her father, Rhys', sunny disposition and a willingness to try anything,
so who knows what fun awaits for the future.
